Carolyn Watts DirectorIn 2005 Carolyn co-founded Quigley and Watts Ltd with Rob Quigley. Carolyn is an experienced public health researcher and evaluator. She specialises in health promotion, facilitation, training and evaluation. Carolyn manages the health promotion training programme offered by Quigley and Watts Ltd and Otago University, Wellington. From 2005 to 2007 she worked as part-time Lecturer in Health Promotion for Otago University, Wellington. Prior to establishing the company, Carolyn was Health Promotion Manager for the Cancer Society where she managed the development, delivery and evaluation of national health promotion programmes. Excellent skills in managing both projects and people are just some of Carolyn's key strengths. Carolyn enjoys travelling to new places, from the Fiordland wilderness to the oceans of the Pacific. Carolyn has a Bachelor of Consumer Applied Science from Otago University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health from Otago University, Wellington. | ||||||||

Robert Quigley DirectorRob has extensive experience conducting and managing health research and strategic planning. He is an expert in stakeholder engagement, training, evidence reviews and evaluation. Rob is a respected leader in the field of health impact assessment and has been instrumental in initiating and developing this work in New Zealand. He is also well known for regular reviews on the effectiveness of nutrition-based health promotion interventions. Rob runs training courses on how to scope and develop projects/plans for complex public health interventions, and uses the same successful approaches in his work. Before establishing Quigley and Watts Ltd, Rob worked for the NZ Ministry of Health, the Medical Research Council in England, the UK Health Development Agency and was seconded to the World Health Organization in Geneva. Rob is an advocate of active transport and regularly cycles to work over the Wellington hills. Rob has a Bachelor of Consumer Applied Science, a Bachelor of Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics from Otago University. Rob has maintained his status as a NZ Registered Dietitian. | ||||||||

Judith Ball Senior Research AssociateJude has a broad skill base including public health research and analysis, and mental health promotion. Jude excels at qualitative research, evaluations, facilitation and training. Jude has multiple strengths that make her indispensable at work, especially her ability to produce quality work efficiently while staying amazingly calm. Before joining our team in 2005, Jude was Wellington region coordinator of the 'Like Minds Like Mine' project to reduce discrimination associated with mental illness. She has worked as a researcher at the University of Western Sydney and as volunteer coordinator for an award winning mental health programme in Sydney. She previously worked in corporate communications in the UK and has a background in teaching English as a foreign language. Jude is a keen cyclist and recently completed a cycling tour in Europe. She is renowned for creating mouth-watering home baking to share on 'Frocks on Bikes' rides. Jude has a Masters degree in Critical Psychology from the University of Western Sydney and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Canterbury University. | ||||||||

Celia Murphy Senior Research AssociateCelia has expertise in nutrition, consumer issues and project management. She is an excellent communicator and is skilled at translating complex information into accessible language for a wide range of audiences. Her practical approach to solving problems is highly valued by the Quigley and Watts team. Celia worked for many years at Consumer where she researched and wrote for Consumer Magazine and worked as Research Manager. She then became the first Director of the advocacy organisation the Obesity Action Coalition where she established it as a credible, expert commentator on obesity issues. Celia has worked at Quigley and Watts since 2007. Returning the weed-infested wilderness at the back her home into native bush is proving a challenge but she takes time out to go sailing many weekends. Celia has a Diploma in Home Science from Otago University and was registered as a New Zealand dietitian. | ||||||||

Louise Thornley Senior Research AssociateLouise is an experienced social researcher with expertise in qualitative research, evidence reviews and facilitation of focus groups. She regularly runs entire projects for the company. Louise is able to apply her skills across diverse topic areas and always enjoys a new challenge, especially fieldwork in interesting places. Louise's work experience is in both government and community sectors. Before joining our team in 2006, Louise worked as a Senior Policy Analyst for an independent advisory group, the National Health Committee, and as Research Fellow for Otago University, Wellington. Inspired to work towards more sustainable cities, Louise helped kick-start the 'Frocks on Bikes' initiative with Jude Ball and the Intersect network. Look out for her snowboarding, hiking, climbing or biking around town in a frock. Louise has a Masters of Arts (Applied) in Social Work from Victoria University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health from Otago University, Wellington. | ||||||||

Kate Marsh Research AssociateKate is an experienced qualitative researcher with strong analytical and writing skills. She has been involved in many research projects with diverse participants and enjoys creating rapport with people. Kate is solution-focused and takes a collaborative approach to her work. She is a strong team player and project manager who ensures completion of high quality projects on time. Before joining Quigley and Watts in 2006, Kate wrote her masters thesis on representations of homeless women in Christchurch. This research raised important social issues and Kate felt privileged to hear the women's stories. One of the best parts of Kate's job is contributing to change that positively influences other people, and working with great colleagues of course! Kate has a Masters degree and a first class Honours degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Canterbury University. | ||||||||

Rachael Meikle Research AssociateRachael has worked for Quigley and Watts since 2005 and has a public health background in physical activity and nutrition. She has diverse skills such as project management, evaluations and facilitation. Rachael has great ability to relate well to people, a skill that has been invaluable in much of her work involving focus groups, interviews and consultation. Previous roles were as Green Prescription Area Manager for Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC), Project Coordinator for Agencies for Nutrition Action, and Occupational Health Advisor in the UK. Prior to that, Rachael had 14 years experience working as a Registered Nurse in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Rachael is another super mum with three young children who keep her entertained. A committed recycler and cyclist, she initiated our office compost regime. She also keeps us stocked with her dad's delicious avocados during the local season. Rachael has a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Nursing Studies. | ||||||||

Joanne Gregg Office ManagerJo is our office manager extraordinaire. She makes sure the office is running smoothly and handles all invoicing, accounting and purchasing as well as organising training courses. Jo has exceptional administrative skills and manages to keep us all on our toes along with keeping the office stocked with good coffee. Nothing is a problem for Jo who will always go out of her way to manage regular work and set up good systems. She is proactive and her colleagues really appreciate her positive attitude to work and life. Prior to joining the team in 2005, Jo worked as a Registered Nurse for 10 years. Jo keeps active outside of work being a fantastic mum to her two young children. Her creative side comes out at Christmas parties and special events when she is always up for dressing flamboyantly. Jo has a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Nursing Studies from Massey University. | ||||||||
